SCRANTON - The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced that Brayan Giron-Ferman, age 22, a federal inmate incarcerated at FCI Schuylkill, was indicted yesterday by a federal grand jury on the charge of possession of a weapon. According to United States Attorney Brian D. Miller, the indictment alleges that on February 27, 2026, Giron-Ferman possessed a prison-made weapon, approximately a seven-and-a-half-inch sharpened piece of metal with a cloth handle, commonly referred to as a “shank.”The Federal Bureau of Investigations and the Special Investigative Services of the Federal Bureau of Prisons investigated the case. Attorney Luisa Honora Berti is prosecuting the case.The maximum penalty under federal law for this offense is up to 5 years’ imprisonment, a term of supervised release following imprisonment, and a fine. A sentence following the finding of guilt is imposed by the Judge after consideration of the applicable federal sentencing statutes and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.Indictments and Criminal Informations are only allegations.
