SCRANTON - The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced that Carey Lynn Pappan, age 31, of Guthrie, Oklahoma, was indicted by a federal grand jury on assault charges.According to United States Attorney Brian D. Miller, the indictment alleges that on October 22, 2025, Pappan, an inmate at the United States Penitentiary Canaan, assaulted another person resulting in serious bodily injury.The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Bureau of Prisons (BOP) investigated the case.
